''Khatta Meetha'' is a Bollywood comedy-drama film directed by Priyadarshan. The movie follows the story of Sachin Tichkule, a struggling small-time contractor who dreams of making it big. The film is set in a small town in Maharashtra where Sachin's business is constantly thwarted by corruption, bureaucracy, and local politics.
Sachin's personal life is also in turmoil as he struggles to deal with his overbearing father, who constantly belittles him, and his dysfunctional family. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a beautiful young woman named Gehna, who lives next door.
As things start to spiral out of control, Sachin finds himself embroiled in a series of misadventures, trying to keep his business afloat while navigating the complexities of his personal life. The film is a light-hearted look at the challenges faced by small entrepreneurs in India and the humor and camaraderie that keeps them going.
The film basically dealt with corruption in the government departments and while it entertained with a liberal dose of sarcasm till it stuck to this theme, things took a turn when the story shifted towards being a family drama. Not many are aware that the Paatal Lok star Jaideep Ahlawat started his Bollywood career with Akshay Kumar’s Khatta Meetha and that too in a meaty role as the main villain. As the husband of Urvashi Sharma, who played Akshay’s sister, he was quite sinister.
